The Artist
Creating Space is where I have allowed my creative and spiritual practices to merge —
& where I hold space for you to do the same.
My Practice
Creativity has been the thread running through my life.
Not as a career I chose, but as a way of being in the world that has guided my journey.
An early encounter with silver, was an inspiration, academic study in Visual Arts, always about the experience.
As a visual arts educator, I have facilitated art making for others, an experience which shaped me in ways I didn't anticipate. Teaching enabled me to articulate what I had always felt intuitively. As I supported each individual to find their way into the creative process, I understood the profound significance of the moment and how we can
be transformed through the making.
I learned to value presence and to create space for it.
Then, during COVID, cutting lino blocks in the sun during home learning, I discovered something unexpected. They embossed beautifully into clay, the flat surface receiving the impression, the clay responding and finding its own organic edge.
The maker proposes. The clay decides.
That discovery led me back to silver — but differently this time. In search of ways to emboss my patterns into metal, I experimented with sand and wax casting, and when I found silver clay, I felt an immediate connection. Pressing silver clay into my hand-cut blocks and watching pattern transfer into metal — it was the convergence of everything.
Each one a small record of a moment of presence.
Pattern became the link that held it all together. From lino cutting to gelli printing — with its emphasis on experimentation, the one-off, layers, colour,
and immersion in what is emerging.
The unrepeatable mark. The surface is the site of meaning.
The spiritual dimension of this practice has been a lifelong journey, quietly emerging alongside everything else. Raised with an early understanding of the possibilities of healing and spiritual connection, and developing my own meditation and yoga practice. I deepened that foundation by completing yoga and meditation teacher training in Nusa Lembongan — and found, in breath, sound, and movement, a set of somatic tools. which grounds us in the present moment.
Together, this is Creating Space.
A place where a lifelong creative and spiritual practice has emerged. My capacity to create space for myself and facilitate space for others to slow down and in the creative process remember what presence feels like.
I invite you to discover what that feels like in yourself
